【Aerospace】Customized High-Speed Data Transmission: Breaking Aerospace Limits

Background

With the rapid development of the global aerospace industry, the application of low Earth orbit satellites has garnered widespread attention. In Taiwan, proactive initiatives by the National Science Council have fostered the advancement of low Earth orbit satellite technology and the demand for space-based big data applications.


This has led to the emergence of numerous startups in the national space sector, dedicated to scientific research and commercial applications in space technology.

Customer Profile

Startup company A, established for less than 5 years, has already emerged as a prominent player in Taiwan's aerospace research sector. Their objective is to install a high-performance quantum computer on low Earth orbit satellites to support quantum communication transmission. 


However, their original suppliers could only produce related components according to existing specifications and were unable to meet A's envisioned future requirements. Furthermore, they lack experience in the satellite communication-related fields.

Solution

The success of this project hinges on the durability of the end product, which must endure long-term operation in space while addressing numerous challenges posed by the harsh space environment. Additionally, it must reliably transmit data back to the laboratory without any interference, in order to facilitate comprehensive analysis of the backend system.


Therefore, in the early stage, CHIN NAN and the technical development team at Company A engaged in multiple discussions, leading to the proposal of customized high-spec connectors tailored for efficient integration into the new equipment. These connectors not only meet stringent information security requirements but also ensure smooth operation of the overall system upon deployment.


Through ongoing communication, CHIN NAN accurately assessed transmission performance requirements and provided corresponding specifications. They also identified potential blind spots in the system, allowing for numerous rounds of experimentation and testing to address any issues swiftly. This approach enabled Company A to conduct tests rapidly and efficiently, effectively managing costs while enhancing project quality.


CHIN NAN's custom design for Company A under this framework includes:

  • High-Spec SMA Non-Magnetic RF Connectors
  • This connector is specifically designed for satellite communication, capable of overcoming various challenges posed by the space environment, such as radiation hardening, channel effects, extreme temperatures, signal interference, and loss.
